As his fame grew, Franz Liszt received more and more musical scores from hopeful fellow composers, leading him to send a message to German music magazine “Neue Zeitschrift für Musik” on 10 November 1882: “To the Honorable Editor! As I am continuously receiving scores, compositions and other forms of letters which are hindering my own work tremendously, I hereby ask you to publish my statement that I am no longer available in that respect. I have been modestly rejecting requests from autograph collectors for many years. Sincerely, Franz Liszt, Weimar.” That heartfelt concern has proved to be today’s benefit, as the basis of the exhibition “PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ANY MORE SCORES”, currently on display in Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum.
