Eurochambres (ECH) held its biennial congress on 28–29 September. The congress was preceded by a meeting of the ECH Board of Directors, attended by Péter Kárpáti, Chair of the Foreign Trade Committee and the Hungarian member of the Board.
The congress focused on Europe’s sustainable competitiveness, the evolving role of chambers of commerce and the state of international trade. It was opened by Vladimír Dlouhý, President of Eurochambres, José Luis Bonet, President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, and Arcadi España, Spain’s Minister of Finance.
Enrico Letta, Prime Minister of Italy from 2013 to 2014, delivered a separate address on progress in implementing the recommendations of his report, published two years earlier, on renewing the EU Single Market and strengthening its competitiveness.
Another dedicated session focused on Eurochambres’ newly completed study, “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Europe’s Productivity”, for which the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) carried out the research and editorial work. Dr Endre Molnár, Research Director of the Institute for Economic and Enterprise Research (GVI), gave a presentation and subsequently took part in the panel discussion on the study and its findings.
The Hungarian chamber network was represented by a nine-member delegation led by Péter Kárpáti, Chair of the Foreign Trade Committee. The delegation also included senior staff from the Győr-Moson-Sopron and Vas County Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
