"Cutting common charges would immediately lead to a substantial increase of income for at least four or five million people", HCCI President Dr. László Parragh said in a recent interview with the pro-Gov't daily, Magyar Nemzet. Parragh believes if the rate of personal income tax is reduced to nine percent from the recent level of 15 percent, it may have the effect of rising net wages, growing consumption and personal savings. Parragh also said that a single-digit personal income tax may encourage Hungarians to return to Hungary from their jobs abroad. The President added: even if the tax cut is implemented gradually, step-by-step, it still may bring positive effects.
