Hungary’s external trade surplus reached EUR 1.2 billion in September 2024, according to fresh data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

This figure represents a decline of EUR 187 million compared to the same month last year as exports and imports both contracted amid challenging economic conditions.

The value of exports in September stood at EUR 12.3 billion, marking a 5% year-over-year decrease. Imports also declined by 4.0%, reaching EUR 11.1 bln. The slowdown in both imports and exports reflects a cautious economic environment in Europe and abroad, influencing Hungary’s trade activity.
