2026. szeptember 28.

The mechatronics duo of Dénes Gutai and Mátyás Papp won gold at WorldSkills, one of the world’s most prestigious international skills competitions. The Hungarian delegation’s participation was organised by the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK). Martin Albrecht won silver in Automobile Technology, Zoltán Czimmer in Painting and Decorating, and Marcell Györfi in Web Technologies. The 29-member Hungarian team, competing in 25 skills, also brought home ten Medallions for Excellence from Shanghai. This marks Hungary’s best-ever result at WorldSkills since the country first took part in 2007.

Medallions for Excellence were awarded to Milán Balogh in Carpentry, Bence Sipos in Cabinetmaking, János Hidvégi in Cloud Computing, Dóra Nagypál in Hairdressing, Gergő Téringer in IT Network Systems Administration, the duo of Károly Árpád Kis and Dániel Vígh in Industrial Robotics, Berta Horváth in Restaurant Service, Evelin Gróf in Beauty Therapy, Dávid Horváth in Software Development, and Tamás Vadnay in Plumbing and Heating.

The gold and silver medals, together with the Medallions for Excellence, demonstrate that Hungary’s vocational education and dual training system is globally competitive and capable of developing skilled professionals who can play a leading role in the economy of the future.

The success of Hungary’s young competitors was supported by extensive collaboration. Experts, industry partners, vocational education institutions and universities all contributed to this outstanding performance. The Chamber, which coordinated the team’s preparation, plays a pivotal role in developing the next generation of skilled professionals and supporting successful participation in the WorldSkills movement by running Hungary’s national competition system and building effective links between industry and vocational education.

Held in Shanghai, the international skills championship brought together 1,385 young talents from 68 nations to compete in 64 different skills. Alongside exceptional technical expertise, participants had to demonstrate creativity, precision, problem-solving skills, adaptability and perseverance. The WorldSkills movement aims to showcase and recognise skills excellence, young talent, modern vocational education and professional expertise aligned with the needs of the economy.

Last year, the Hungarian team, whose preparation was coordinated by the Chamber, ranked fourth among participating nations at EuroSkills Herning 2025, the European skills championship, behind Switzerland, Germany and France. Gold medals were won by a software developer, a web developer, an IT network systems administration duo and an Industry 4.0 pair. The Hungarian team also secured two silver and five bronze medals, while five competitors received Medallions for Excellence.
